The March Membership Meeting will be an in-person Street Law fundraiser, a new program for the Foundation of the Alexandria Bar Association at Joe Theismann's Restaurant in the Owner's Suite at 1800A Diagonal Road in Alexandria. Street Law is a non-profit organization that globally administers a number of programs aimed at educating people about law and government. Street Law’s Legal Diversity Pipeline Program is an initiative designed to provide information about the law and legal profession to high school students of color and encourage them to pursue legal careers. The program provides an opportunity for lawyers and other legal professionals to provide education and mentorship to local high school students. The cost to start this program in Alexandria is $10,000. After the program is funded, Street Law will work with Alexandria City High School to select classes and arrange logistics; the program will also provide training and materials to attorneys and legal professionals who volunteer to work with the students.
The Foundation is asking each member and guest to bring a contribution to the meeting in support of this program. Please make checks payable to The Foundation of the Alexandria Bar Association with Street Law in the memo section. If you prefer to make an on-site online contribution, please show your confirmation to the registration team as all contributors will be entered into a raffle to win one of the following prizes:
